What if her parents took a different route, left five minutes earlier or later? Katie is sure they'd still be alive. If she could just turn back time. The mysterious collision of this deep-held wish and the legend of the London Stone, produces an otherworldly force that catapults the girl back in time—way back. It's London, 1888. A serial killer is on the loose. Katie knows the victims' names, where and when they were killed. Can she stop Jack the Ripper?
Follow Katie back in time to Victorian London where young ladies are not expected to speak their mind, much less pursue a serial killer. Gee, Victorian men sure have funny ideas of what women should and should not do or think or say. So how is it possible she's falling in love with one of these men? Or what is it she feels for Toby? With this handsome, scrappy young man's help, can Katie unmask Jack the Ripper?
SEE THE RIPPED VIDEO!
“I devoured this book...I loved Katie's voice...between her dialogue and references to modern-day pop culture, I think she really made this story very easy to read, even the gory and violent parts. ...very detailed and historically accurate...intrigue...mystery of this book definitely sets the pace and you'll be through it before you know it. ...definitely recommend this book.”

“If you could save your parents at the expense of others, would you do it? Would you take the hard right or the easy wrong? This is really the crux of the matter with RIPPED, not the fact that it's a Jack the Ripper murder mystery... A strong plot, coupled with Katie's desperate wish to change history made for a real page-turner. ”

“This book is a must-read. I have read and re-read it and enjoyed it just as much (if not more) each time. It's a nerve wracking page turner. I read this book again with my friend when we were visiting England, and it was eerie and exciting to visit the sites mentioned in the book. It's humorous and heart warming as well as hideous and gut wrenching. Read Ripped today! ”

“I loved this book! ...couldn't put it down. This YA novel has it all: suspense, romance, adventure, time-travel, historical intrigue, and mystery....characters are wonderfully written... settings are also described so well... able to smell or taste the different places. The author also keeps you guessing about the true identity of the villain for most of the book. For a debut novel, Ms. Carr gets an A +.
A good YA historical mystery for adults and young adults. ”

“Recently I read and enjoyed the Hunger Games trilogy. Now I've just finished Ripped!! I couldn't put it down!!! Its the best time travel novel I've read since Time and Again by Finney. If I were a middle school English teacher, I would add Ripped to the curriculum...for its factual portrayal of life in Victorian England... exciting opportunity to read and learn about the best and worst of human nature. Not only is Ripped great adolescent historical fiction it's a terrific mystery. The cockney and poetry are divine!!!”

“Ripped is a thriller to the end and was a thrill to read! Carr nails the teen genre and brings so much more to the table! Not only is Katie Lennox a relatable character with strong convictions, as you rapidly read along you find yourself in the midst of a riveting history lesson on Victorian England and Jack the Ripper. This is a must-read for teens, adults, and educators alike!”

“This not-so-young adult couldn't stop reading... It's a thriller, a mystery, a history, and even a promise of more to come in a sequel (or prequel.) Yes, there's blood..--it's a Jack the Ripper novel after all. But there's ever so much more, as one of the characters might say. Victorian England lives and breathes on every page ...layering of details. And it isn't only the scene-settings and fast-paced plot that ring true. The author makes us feel the stifling weight of Victorian women's clothes, the stench and claustrophobia of traveling on London's Underground Railway, the time traveler's relief at returning to 21st century comforts like flush toilets and hot showers. I was sorry to reach the last page. I highly recommend Ripped. I loved it.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed this time traveling tale! It was a perfect combination of fantasy, mystery and romance and would appeal to any audience, from the thrill seeker to the history buff. I had a blast reading this book and even learned a little Cockney too. All you "Rob Roys" and "Twist and Swirls," this story is definitely worth the read!”

On August 31, 1888, Jack the Ripper drew a sharp blade across the throat of Mary Ann Nichols. Blood spurted from the young woman's gaping flesh. Jack walked away from what experts believe was his first kill.

The murders became more and more ghastly. The heart of one victim was missing. The police received a kidney in the mail. Scotland Yard's finest were mocked in newspaper cartoons as blindfolded buffoons. Residents were terrorized, prisoners of their own homes once night fell.
No one knows for sure how many victims there were. But for the rest of 1888 and possibly as late as 1891, the Ripper continued to kill. Residents were warned to stay home, not to risk the streets at night. But the Ripper found girls alone and quenched his thirst for blood again and again.
Jack the Ripper was never caught. Who was he? Where did the murders take place?
